FAQ's

FAQ's

You have questions, we have answers.

  • Are the new inks very different?
    1. The new ink is virtually identical to the old ink just with a slightly different formula inside. It is the same manufacturer, same quality, and the price is still the same.
  • When can I get my changeover done?
    1.  Contact us to order your first new ink kit. There is no charge for the new kit. If you have a service agreement, we will plan with you to get it done during  your next Preventive Maintenance. If you don't have a service agreement, you can do the change over yourself or call us to have a Noritsu technician do it for you on site, at our regular labour rates.  This is an ongoing process and we hope to have everyone converted within the next 2 years.
  • What do I do with my old inks?
    1. We have put together a Swap-Out program for up to 4 unopened, good condition inks that are more than 6 months from expiration. Please visit our Swap-out page for more info. You can contact a member of our sales team to learn more about our Swap-Out program: nclsales@noritsu.com
  • When is this going to happen?
    1. We expect to have everyone changed over within the 12 to 18 months. Until then we will continue to carry the old inks until everyone has been converted.
  • Why are they changing inks?
    1. Due to circumstances beyond our control our manufacturer has discontinued the current line of inks we use. This procedure is an update that will allow our printers to use the new ink cartridges in our printers.
  • What if I don't want to do the change over?
    1. You do not have to have the update if you don’t want to. Please be aware though the current ink is discontinued and will soon no longer be available. To adapt to the new ink we must run the update and ink swapping procedure so you can use the new ink.
  • How can I get the new type ink?
    1. Please call Noritsu Canada's parts ordering dept. at 1-800-461-9517 to order your first set of of the new type ink. Once the ink changeover is complete, you will be able to order the new ink online from then on at www.noritsucanadastore.com
  • What if I have multiple printers?
    1. For those customers who have more than one printer, you can manage your ink inventory by staggering the changeover.  Or, you can do the changeover together, it's up to you. You can give us a call if you need help planning your strategy.
  • Can I still use the old ink after we run the update?
    1. No, the old ink will no longer be accepted by the printer once the Ink Swap procedure has been performed on the printer. This is due to an incompatibility of ink formulas used in the new and old ink cartridges.
  • What will happen if I put the old ink in the printer after we swap it?
    1. The printer will give you an ink cartridge error and will not print until the appropriate cartridge has been installed.
  • Is there any difference in color?
    1. You may notice minor differences in color due to the new cartridge using a different pigment formula of ink, but tests have shown it to be minor and able to be balanced out with checks.
  • How does the ink swap work?
    1. There are 3 files that need to be run on the QSS PC along with an ink drain and ink fill process. The instructions will walk you through where to put each file and which ones to run first. Once the process begins it cannot be interrupted. The update will prompt you step by step and will run the ink draining and swapping procedure for you. All you need to do is replace the ink cartridges when prompted and run some head cleanings.
