Ink Conversion Support
Change Is On The Way!
Thank you for your patronage and continued support of Noritsu products! Epson has discontinued the current line of ink used in our printers. We will begin a transition to using a new Epson ink cartridge/formula gradually over the next year.
This means running a simple update and ink swapping procedure to accommodate the new ink formula on all our printers. Noritsu QSS equipment affected by the ink change are models QSS-D703, D1005 and Green Series Inkjet equipment. We will contact you when it becomes available in your area to schedule a time that works best for you, or you can schedule online today.

What's Going to Happen?

Remote Support
We will log in remotely to your QSS PC and guide you step-by-step through the ink swap procedure while on the phone. This avoids any call out fees and travel expenses.
What do I do with my old ink?
Noritsu has put together a swap-out program for any unused ink that are more than 6 mos from expiration and are both sealed and unopened in good condition.
Do I have to?
The current ink has been discontinued and it will eventually no longer be available. This procedure will enable you to use the new formula Epson has converted to.
Can I do it myself?
Absolutely! The process is simple and we have guided steps as well as video and remote support if you feel confident.

How It Works
Simple & Easy
One of our Noritsu Support members will log in remotely via FastSupport to your printer's PC and install a software update. After this we will run an ink drain procedure to remove any of the current ink from inside the printer. Once performed, we will have you load the new ink and let the printer fill with it. This will use approximately 20% of the ink in the new cartridge and take around one hour from start to finish.
To prepare for this procedure please make sure your QSS PC is connected to the internet and remote desktop is enabled. Please make sure your waste tank has sufficient room as we will be draining the old ink from inside the printer. Be sure to address any printhead issues prior to initiating this procedure.

FAQ's
Q: Is there any difference in color? A: You may notice minor differences in color due to the new cartridge using a different pigment formula of ink, but tests have shown it to be minor and able to be balanced out with checks.
Q: How can I get the discounted ink? A: For a limited time, we are offering major discounts to our Contract and GNAP customers only. GNAP is free! If you would like more information on joining our GNAP program please contact our sales team at: sales@noritsu.com
Q: Is the new ink Epson Ink? A: Yes! The new ink is virtually identical to the old ink just with a slightly different formula inside. It is Epson brand, Epson quality, and the price is still the same.
Q: What do I do with my old inks? A: We have put together a Swap-Out program for any unopened, good condition inks that are more than 6 months from expiration. Please visit our Swap-out page for more info.
Q: When are they going to do my change over? A: You can schedule your appointment online or contact us to order your discounted first kit. A member of our Noritsu team will also be contacting people to set up a time to schedule the changeover procedure. This is an ongoing process and we hope to have everyone converted within the next year.
Q: Why are they changing inks? A: Due to circumstances beyond our control, Epson has discontinued the current line of inks we use. This procedure is an update that will allow our printers to use the new ink cartridges in our printers.
Q: What if I don’t want to change over? A: You do not have to have the update if you don’t want to. Please be aware though, the current ink is discontinued and will soon no longer be available. To adapt to the new ink, we must run the update and ink swapping procedure so you can use the new ink.
Q: If I don’t use Epson Ink, will I still be able to use it after this? A: No. Since the old formula of ink and the new formula of ink are incompatible, the software update we perform during the ink swapping procedure makes sure the old cartridges won’t be accepted afterwards to avoid contamination. Because of this, the old inks and subsequently any other versions of it, will not be accepted by the printer once the swap is performed.
Q: What if I have multiple printers? A: For those customers who have more than one printer, we may still be able to perform the swap over the phone while using remote desktop. If you feel you would like an in person visit we recommend pairing it with your Preventative Maintenance visit to reduce any out of pocket expenses.
Q: When is this going to happen? A: We expect to have everyone changed over within the next year. Until then, we will continue to carry the old inks until everyone has been converted.
Q: Can I still use the old ink after we run the update? A: No, the old ink will no longer be accepted by the printer once the Ink Swap procedure has been performed on the printer. This is due to an incompatibility of ink formulas used in the new and old ink cartridges.
Q: What will happen if I put the old ink in the printer after we swap it? A: Nothing. The printer will give you an ink cartridge error and will not print until the appropriate cartridge has been installed.
Q: How does the ink swap work? A: There are 3 files that need to be run on the QSS PC along with an ink initial fill process. The instructions will walk you through where to put each file and which ones to run first. Once the process begins it cannot be interrupted. The update will prompt you step by step, and will run the ink initial fill procedure for you. All you need to do is replace the ink cartridges when prompted and run some head cleanings.
