Ink Conversion Support

Change Is On The Way!

Thank you for your patronage and continued support of Noritsu products! Our manufacturer has discontinued the current line of ink used in our printers. We will begin a transition to using a new ink cartridge/formula gradually over the next 12 to 18 months.

This means running a simple update and ink swapping procedure to accommodate the new ink formula on all our printers. Noritsu QSS equipment affected by the ink change are models QSS-D703, D1005 and Green Series Inkjet equipment.

How It Works

Simple & Easy

The new type ink will replace the current type ink. Noritsu Canada will provide a replacement set of inks at no charge. This change requires a flush of the old ink and filling with new ink using the software provided. Once the ink changeover is completed, the original ink will no longer be able to be used, and only the new type of ink can be ordered.

  • Customers with service agreements can have the changeover done at the time of Preventive Maintenance at no cost
  • Customers without service agreements can choose to perform the changeover themselves or have a Noritsu technician perform the changeover at our regular labour rates
  • Software and instructions will be provided, as well as a demo video for easy reference.

FAQ's

Q: How can I get the new type ink? A: Please call Noritsu Canada's parts ordering dept. at 1-800-461-9517 to order your first set of of the new type ink. Once the ink changeover is complete, you will be able to order the new ink online from then on at www.noritsucanadastore.com
Q: Is the new ink very different? A: The new ink is virtually identical to the old ink just with a slightly different formula inside. It is the same manufacturer, same quality, and the price is still the same.
Q: What do I do with my old inks? A: We have put together a Swap-Out program for up to 4 unopened, good condition inks that are more than 6 months from expiration. Please visit our Swap-out page for more info.
Q: When can I get my change over done? A: Contact us to order your first new ink kit. There is no charge for the new kit. If you have a service agreement, we will plan with you to get it done during your next Preventive Maintenance. If you don't have a service agreement, you can do the change over yourself or call us to have a Noritsu technician do it for you on site, at our regular labour rates. This is an ongoing process and we hope to have everyone converted within the next 12 to 18 months.
Q: Why are they changing inks? A: Due to circumstances beyond our control, our manufacturer has discontinued the current line of inks we use. This procedure is an update that will allow our printers to use the new ink cartridges in our printers.
Q: What if I don’t want to change over? A: You do not have to have the update if you don’t want to. Please be aware though, the current ink is discontinued and will soon no longer be available. To adapt to the new ink, we must run the update and ink swapping procedure so you can use the new ink.
Q: What if I have multiple printers? A: For those customers who have more than one printer, you can manage your ink inventory by staggering the changeover. Or, you can do the changeover together, it's up to you. You can give us a call if you need help planning your strategy.
Q: When is this going to happen? A: We expect to have everyone changed over within the next 12 to 18 months. Until then, we will continue to carry the old inks until everyone has been converted.
Q: Can I still use the old ink after we run the update? A: No, the old ink will no longer be accepted by the printer once the Ink Swap procedure has been performed on the printer. This is due to an incompatibility of ink formulas used in the new and old ink cartridges.
Q: What will happen if I put the old ink in the printer after we swap it? A: Nothing. The printer will give you an ink cartridge error and will not print until the appropriate cartridge has been installed.
Q: How does the ink swap work? A: There are 3 files that need to be run on the QSS PC along with an ink drain and ink fill process. The instructions will walk you through where to put each file and which ones to run first. Once the process begins it cannot be interrupted. The update will prompt you step by step, and will run the ink draining and swapping procedure for you. All you need to do is replace the ink cartridges when prompted and run some head cleanings.
Q: Is there any difference in color? A: You may notice minor differences in color due to the new cartridge using a different pigment formula of ink, but tests have shown it to be minor and able to be balanced out with checks.
